PREPARING FOR YOUR HEADSHOT

There is a little bit of preparation before your Headshot Session. Have a think about your hair and book a haircut (if you need it) about 3 days before the shoot. Make sure your favourite clothes are cleaned and pressed ready to go. We want you to look and feel great on the day.

I’ll take care of the lighting and your posing - all you need to do is turn up feeling fresh and ready to go. Now you have made the decision to invest in your new headshots, you might as well do the preparation and look forward to the results.

Take a look through the tips below.

Female Headshots

Headshot Clothing

Bring clothes you love that fit well & ideally plain colours. If you can bring a range of options that work well together It helps a lot. If you don’t bring it, we can’t shoot it. Also remember to bring a range of formal items maybe with jackets and more casual items too.

Headshot Hair

Please take your time with your hair on the morning of the shoot. I don’t recommend getting a haircut just before the shoot while you are getting to know your new style. Remember to bring everything you’ll need to style your hair (product, bands, brushes etc) and anything to keep fly-aways under control.

Headshot Makeup

Please arrive with your makeup ready to go. Keep things light and natural. Please try to avoid penciling-in your eyebrows and using eyeliner as it can be distracting. Remember to bring lipstick and lip gloss and anything else you like to use for application and removal of your makeup. Try and avoid using makeup with SPF as it can be shiny under the lights.

Headshot Jewellery

Since a headshot is all about you, I always prefer to have no jewellery worn. If you absolutely must have some on, then keep it small and simple so we can minimise any distraction from you.

Headshot Glasses

If you wear glasses everyday and they form part of your look, then wear them. Make sure they are clean though. If you wear contacts and glasses bring both just in case.

Headshot Shoes

We won’t normally shoot your shoes but wear something that you love that works well with the clothes you bring.

Male Headshots

Headshot Clothing

Bring your favourite clothes. I suggest a couple of shirts and jackets and a tie or two. That way we can create options with a range of formality. Plain colours work best with nice crisp collars. Also remember to bring some more casual options so we can shoot that too.

Headshot Hair

Take some time to style your hair on the morning of the shoot and bring any product you like to use. Don’t get a haircut the day before in case yo hair needs a while to settle down. Ideally you’ll come to the session clean shaven (unless you have a beard) with all those nose, ear & eyebrow hairs nicely trimmed.

Headshot Makeup

I don’t usually suggest any makeup for men.
